Regarding Owings Mill:
Very clean, well-appointed facilities. Great fitness classes. Ample parking. I like the fact that the monthly fee includes the fitness classes.
I personally don't use the outdoor Waterpark, but brought my grandkids this summer and they loved it.
Note: I did compare this with the Y in Towson. The Y lets you sign up for classes (e.g., yoga), but arrivals are first come, first served 30 minutes prior to class. They can fill up. I'm not willing to drive there and HOPE that I get in a class.
Nicely maintained exercise equipment, fun group fitness classes, solid hours (especially during weekdays) and amazing indoor and outdoor pool facilities. I love to end the day with a stop in the sauna. Well worth the detour, especially during the summer.
Exercise and socialization are what is important to me. The J meets those needs. I like pickle ball. This activity helps me to stay active and make new friends. I have a group of 5-6 seniors like me with whom I play on Tuesdays and Thursdays. With camps in session, this has been disrupted somewhat, requiring that we play outside in the summer heat. With air quality being what it has been lately, plus the heat, this makes it difficult to play without putting us at risk.
Great Opportunity, Great community and people to work with! Been going to the J ever since I was like 6 years old! Feels like home!
Our daughter goes to preschool at JCC. We are not Jewish and we are very happy about her going to JCC. She is learning and playing every day with staff and teachers who are very friendly. Because of her preschool tuition, we get access to the rest of the facilities (gym and swimming pool). We love the facilities. They are clean, not crowded, and staff are very friendly. Overall I highly recommend this place for preschool and/or recreational facilities.
Clean, well maintained exercise areas and pool. I exercise here often. But truly annoying phone answering menu. A whole sentence about the phone number of the Gordon Center BEFORE the menu. Another sentence claiming that the menu has changed, and you should listen to the whole menu when the menu hasn't changed in years, and nobody ever listens to the whole menu. Delete that stuff and just give the fershlugginner menu up front.
Lovely facilities, awful toddler summer camp. Serious safety concerns. I wouldn’t send any child here that wasn’t a strong swimmer.
ETA: After posting this review, I did receive a call from the JCC, and they connected me with their aquatics director as well as their early learning director. I appreciate them taking this seriously, but given the gaps in supervision we experienced I wouldn’t recommend sending a young child to camp here.
If there was an option I'd give no stars. My experience of being here for over a year in therapy being passed to 3 different people. I'm a single mom that works I'm sorry if that limits me to having to reschedule. Jennifer my last therapist forgot our 1st appointment. Emails me to ask when it is then she double booked and asked am I okay with meeting later. I agree she then shows up late.i asked to reschedule and she states she will release me as a patient if this happens again. Very rude. Scheur asks so many inappropriate questions also. Would not recommend him. Also once they found out my race they would nothire me in the fitness department when I have 6 plus years of exercise. Horrible experience here.
